Extremely loud & incredibly close

One of the best books I've ever read!

He wrote, "I lost a son." "You did?" He showed me his left palm, "yes". "How did he die?" "I lost him before he died." "How?" "I went away." "Why?" He wrote, "I was afraid." "Afraid of what?" "Afraid of losing him." "Were you afraid of him dying?" "I was afraid of him living." "Why?" He wrote, "Life is scarier than death."

It's a shame that we have to live, but it's a tragedy that we get to live only one life.

Why didn't I learn to treat everything like it was the last time, my greatest regret is how much I believed in the future.
